This past week for ISM has been a great one. I have a lot of work done to my presentation and am almost completely done with the curriculum for my product. Once I meet with my mentor again, then we can discuss the direction that this product is taking and he can live his critiques. Hopefully after speaking to him, then I can finalize this portion of the product, which is the largest portion. Then I will move on to materials. I am very excited because I have finally been approved to start in-person mentor visits at UT Southwestern. I have two in the upcoming week, which are both pretty long in order to catch up on lost time throughout the year. In order to be able to go in person, I had to complete something called HIPPA training which deals with topics such as patient privacy and ethics, and it was interesting to see how many measures are put in healthcare to protect patient information. Although I have made good progress lately, I still feel as if I’m quite behind where I want to be. Especially with my mentor visits being so delayed, it took me behind schedule for my final product. The next few weeks will be very busy, and this time could be said to be the calm before the storm.
